The van der Merwe family invites you to the Harnas Wildlife Foundation + Guest Farm. Once a normal cattlefarm , Harnas is today a charitable organisation dedicated to save endangered wild animals in Namibia.

During the past twenty years the van der Merwe family dedicated its entire life to establish the most suitable and especially secure home possible to neglected or orphaned wild animals and succeeded in creating a Noah's Ark in the African Savannah.

In the past, big cats that threatened livestock were often killed by farmers or trigger-happy "game hunters". Today these animals are transferred to Harnas in order to protect them from being shot outright as mere marauders. Often animals that annoy their owners or can no longer be cared for end up at Harnas. This has resulted in about 25 different species living on Harnas, including lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.

Harnas offers beautiful accommodation in rustic en-suite cottages. Cosy restaurant and bar.

Excellent photo opportunities on the feeding tours and bush walks.
